Curling Clinics – January & February 2015

The Club is offering seven different curling clinics in the months of January and February.  Please sign up for the one(s) that suit you.

Novice Refresher - January 3 –  10 am-12 noon – $15.00/person maximum 16 Participants

  • Recommended for first year curlers
  • Improve your stance, balance and line of delivery
  • Improve your grip and release
  • Sweeping & Communication
  • Tips on Rules and Etiquette

Novice Clinic – January 3 – 1:00 – 3:00 pm – $15.00/person maximum 16 Participants

  • Recommended for brand new curlers
  • Learn the stance, balance and line of delivery
  • Learn how to sweep
  • Learn the Rules and Etiquette of the game
  • Discover how much fun the game is

Team Building – Sweeping & Communication – January 10 – 2:00 pm – 4 pm – $40.00/team -Maximum 6 teams

  • Sweeping techniques
  • Sweeping judgement – interval timing using stopwatches
  • Zones
  • How sweepers can recognize “the break”
  • Brushes – which brush is bes for which ice conditions

Intermediate Delivery – January 17 – 11:30 am – 1:30 pm – $15.00 per person – Maximum 16 participants

  • Recommended for curlers with 3 – 9 years of curling experience
  • Improve your stance, balance & line of delivery
  • Improve your grip & release
  • Learn the top 7 ways to control weight
  • Learn how to practice with purpose

Advanced Delivery – January 17 – 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Maximum 16 participants – cost $15.00

  • For curlers with 10 plus years of curling experience
  • Balance
  • Line of Delivery
  • How to line up to always be on-line
  • Eye dominance
  • Weight Control – top 10 (of 12) methods to vary your speed
  • Release

Skipping Clinic – January 24 – 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Any level Skip & Third – Maximum 16 participants – cost $15.00

  • On & off ice
  • Line Calls:  How to recognize plan A, B, & C
  • Communication, how to miss, rocks, ice, etc.
  • Recognizing differences in the rocks
  • Learn how to match rocks
  • Learn how to read ice
  • Learn what factors affect the speed and amount of curl of ice

Strategy – February 7 – 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Any level Skips & Thirds – Maximum 16 participants – Cost 15.00/person

  • Learn basic strategy with last rock or without last rock
  • Learn when to play offence and when to play defence
  • Pro side misses
  • How to develop a game plan to take advantage of your team’s strengths
  • How to recognize Plan A, B and C
  • This clinic is both on and off-ice (Please bring curling shoes)
